When Did You Start Using Custom Content?
« on: December 12, 2012, 07:54:47 pm »
Custom content is probably one of the biggest reason people join sites like Simtropolis and SC4Devotion nowadays. When did you start using custom content, and what was your first plugin?

I joined Simtropolis first, in May 2008. I joined for custom content, like many others. It wasn't until 2011 I started becoming active in the community. My reason for jumping in was the RHW. I saw some videos on YouTube of it, and got hooked. Soon, I joined Simtropolis and downloaded it (along with the NAM, of course.) The rest, as they say, is history.

What's your story?

My story? I started playing SC4 in late 2009, found simtrop in april 2010. I used to post there (under a different screen name which i am not disclosing, nor are any of you that know are sharing) and downloaded tons of things. My first plugin was a simple BAT, I think a water treatment plant of some kind.

I've grown to really dislike ST and SC4D (and almost all the other sites) so I don't post there or hardly anywhere else anymore though.

As for why I stopped posting there and changed my screen name, no comment.

In early 2007 is was browsing the web for pics of cool cities when I was a darker 4 lane highway. Curious I clicked onto Simtropolis and found all about the various mods. Like Cheesey I used to post at SC4D and Simtrop under a different name (also not being said) until issues with certain things raised. Now under new management, Durfsurn is my new name across all sites. My first CC was an park disguised as an Industrial Lot designed to add the park effect in a dirty industry city without having green parks. I am working on a project over in my lotting thread which you guys are welcome to check out!

On the username thing anyone who can draw comparisons between certain account can they keep things to them self. No comment.

yeah, I think that's how I found ST at first, when I saw a picture somewhere of a roundabout :P

I was watching someones slideshow showcase on YouTube of their cities which is what got me to downloading CC other than the NAM. I think the first BAT I downloaded was a Walmart. :P

So I went 5 years without CC, because I started playing in 2003. It wasn't really until 2008.09 when I downloaded CC that I really started playing the game heavily. TS2 took up all my gaming time before that, and now TS3 as well.

I can understand about the username thing. From The Sims 2 to The Sims 3, I didn't continue on under my former username. Started fresh, with a name that also sounded better. I make no parallels to my old name.

Lol. It's so funny. Half of my friends have new accounts too on different sites. Seems like starting fresh is popular!

For me it wasn't because I started fresh, I left ST and didn't want people wondering where I went so I slipped out of the community quietly, and started under my new name on various small sites such as this one. Once again, I make no reference to my old name, so as far as you're concerned I'm nobody on ST :P

As for why I decided to leave ST, also, no comment on that either.

....something else I remember is the first time I plopped the LBT(?) KMART building. And discovered sims could drive through the lot.

I was so excited. I didn't know TE lots even existed before that. :P

I started using custom content about four years ago, when I joined simtropolis. I was then Blakesterville, just like I am here. Honestly, I really don't care for the username, but I ended up signing up at Simmania under that username too, and it stuck. I've since changed my display name at Simtropolis to BKA320 and have become less active at the community, moving on to sites like Simopsis, Simkingdom, and Simmania.
