Chat Programs

hey ,
what do you think of the idea of getting a chat program at some point here ?
I don't know much about web sites and costs. But would that cost a lot of money
to get a basic one ?

I would suggest waiting until we have around 25 members .
I think the chat itself could help recruit a few new members .
I think I could persuade some of the chat members from Simmania
to maybe hang out here also once in awhile if we had chat here.
Anyways, just thought id toss that out there for everyone.

I've been looking into getting a chat over here, and there are some good free chats (such as Ajax Chat, as cheesey has pointed out) - and we will hopefully be getting one at somepoint. The only problem I foresee is it has to be HTML, and be able to just have code copied/pasted in one location. I can't upload files to the site as our host doesn't allow FTP access unless we upgrade to prohosting, which at $10/month I can't cover on my own. (The benefit to their prohosting plan over traditional plan is they take care of everything tech-wise, while still giving C-Panel Access - which is very very good.)

So it is indeed possibly, and I feel the same as you in that it could drive people joining the site, and encourage more activity.

I'll update this thread as I get more information to the possibility of a chatbox. Thanks for your suggestion!
